Home Assistant Cloud

Home Assistant Cloud is an optional subscription service provided by our partner Nabu Casa. It adds secure remote access to your Home Assistant from anywhere, integrations with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and the text-to-speech and speech-to-text engines used by Assist. Subscriptions also help fund the development of Home Assistant itself.

Home Assistant works fully without it. Home Assistant Cloud is there for the things that genuinely benefit from a cloud connection, such as remote access and the voice assistant integrations, while everything else continues to run locally on your own hardware.
